DOPD Receives CoServ Grant
I would like to recognize, and thank, the CoServ Charitable Foundation for an extremely generous grant of $10,000 to be used for the purchase of digital, narrow band capable, public safety radios. Dennis Engleke, who currently serves as one of the CoServ gatekeepers for funding in Denton County, attended the meeting and was recognized by the Double Oak Town Council and all attendees for his years of devoted service. It is not an exaggeration to say that Dennis has been responsible for the creation of hundreds of grant writing savvy, public safety professionals, through his classes on applying for funds (from Government and Corporations). The ability to obtain grant contributions from public and private partners is critical to the day-to-day effectiveness of public safety departments across Texas.
Obtaining a grant is often a community effort and I would like to extend Department recognition to Mayor Mike Donnelly, State of Texas Representative Tan Parker and Denton County Sheriff’s Department Captain Corry Blount. Each of the aforementioned took the time to provide letters of support and explanation as to the grant request and need for updated public safety radios.
